MATT FEERICK - CV

Matt Feerick is an interdisciplinary artist who’s work crosses, physical theatre, clown, improvisation, adaptations of text, immersive theatre, street arts and touring mid-scale theatre. A producer, director, actor and creator of strange, eccentric worlds. He is currently artistic director of International touring theatre company Wet Picnic (wetpicnic.com) and works as a freelance director and actor for a number of other companies. He is a guest lecturer at a number of universities in the UK and works as a mentor to a number of emerging theatre makers.

Matts works has toured across the world, with an estimated reach of over 1 million people. A graduate of Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris, Matt is a French speaker and has worked as the guest artistic director of both the National Arts Centre and National Centre for Street Arts in France.

After completing leadership training from the Clore Leadership Programme and Concord Foundation Course, Matt has created several leadership and management programmes that are currently offered to larger corporate clients.

CRIME SCENE LIVE | 2017 | DIRECTOR & ACTOR

An immersive take over of the Natural History Museum, London, which fuses theatre with forensic science. For 600 people per night, audiences solve a real case working with real forensics experts animated with theatre, installations and digital trails

A two man version of Hamlet, exploring mental health in young males and the psychosis within Hamlet.

THE DINNER TABLE | 2010 | ACTOR & ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

A street theatre show about eating etiquette. Originally made for an audience of 250 people the show has toured Europe, Russia, China and North America, reaching audiences much larger - including 5000 people in trafalgar square.

I'D BE LOST WITHOUT IT | 2018 | DIRECTOR

An immersive show focussing on the psychological effects of technology on the brain. The piece is delivered on headphones and recorded with binaural sound.

THE APERITIF | 2016 | DIRECTOR & ACTOR

A sister show to ‘The Ball’, ‘The Aperitif’ uses headphones to guide audiences through a 220 person choreography, that culminates in a ritual sacrifice. The piece explores revolution, the servant and the master using dark comedy to deliver a macabre end.

THE LIFT | 2014 | DIRECTOR

A small scale street theatre show, that plays on the eccentricity of the every day. 3 audience members at a time are invited inside a Lift on wheels and asked to pick a floor. While inside the lift the rest of the audience constructs the floor that they step in to.

‘The Lift’ has toured Europe, the UK and Canada.

SUITCASES | 2017 | DIRECTOR & ACTOR

A street theatre show that explores public shaming and how easily we are pulled along by the crowd. The show brings in an audience member (who is later revealed to be a member of the cast) and the audience are encouraged to publicly shame him. A darkly comic piece that gives a physical form the online world of bullying.

THE BIRTHDAY PARTY | 2013 | DIRECTOR & ACTOR

A street theatre show about loneliness. The show took place around a moving table and told the story of Malcolm alone on his 40th birthday haunted by his past, as he looks to confront his future.

Commissioned by ZEPA, Le Fourneau, Culture Commune, Atelier 231, Winchester Hat Fair, Salisbury Festival, Brighton Festival, funded by Arts Council England.

DOMINO THEORY | 2015 | DIRECTOR & ACTOR

A one night event that took over the RAF Museum, London. 600 people split in to three nations battled it out in a cold war themed game, culminating in a party headlined by DJ Yoda.

CLUB SHED | 2018 | DIRECTOR & ACTOR

An immersive clubbing experience that lasts 12 minutes. Audiences wear headphones and experience one of 8 possible nights out. From the queue, to the toilets, to kebab before home, the audience dance together throughout the whole experience; culminating in a ceilidh.

An immersive take over of Gunwharf Quays, large outdoor shopping centre in Portsmouth. The show told the story of Gunwharf Quays history as a World War 2 launch pad for the navy and its history as a bomb disposal site.
